A WALK TO REMEMBER

How often does it happen that a place has an impact on our mood or emotions? This question had been bugging me ever since I came across the term “Emotional Climate” in one of the lectures at the university. Emotional climate is a concept that quantifies the “climate” of a spacebeing a small group,  an organization or a geographical region. Emotional climates indicate the emotional relationships interwoven among members of a community and describe the quality of the environment within a particular context. Emotional climates reflect the way most members of a community feel in a given situation.  People talk to each other about their feelings and influence one another, and thus construct shared emotional patterns. I decided to take a walk around the city  and try to observe the emotional response of people in different places.

Canoe Lake is one of my favorite spots in the city. I decided to start the analysis from there. The lake , swans and chirping birds always brings the sense of peace and calm to me . People come there along with there family to spend quality time with them . When I was sitting on one of the benches I heard laughing and giggling voices of people . The voice was coming from a group who was feeding breads crumbs to the swans . I could feel their happiness just by seeing there bright smile and shining eyes. Though I did not know them but by just seeing them , the lake and everything around it my mood was instantly lifted. I felt calmer , happier and more energetic by just being at that space. The beach near the lake is as beautiful as the lake. I sat there with my friends for few minutes just to soak up in the winter sunlight and enjoy the beautiful sound of waves .

The emotional climate in university changes drastically within the campus. The students who are engaged in chatting with there classmates instantly become attentive , calm and focused when the lecture starts . They become vigilant and concentrate on optimum learning inside the studios and library . Their mood  in more relaxed and carefree when they go to a cafeteria or attend an event or a activity held in the college . The Emotional response of the students changes according to the place , its ambience and the people they are surrounded with .

People often go to the spiritual places in search of peace and solace. May it be temples , church's , gurudwara or a mosque, you can feel the positive energy within the serene ambiance of the place. You can see them bowing down their head in gratitude and sitting peacefully to seek the blessings , strength and positive energy . The spiritual places brings out the sense of peacefulness within the people.

“If your eyes are blinded with your worries, you cannot see the beauty of the sunset.” ~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

Nothing can be better than watching sunset at the beach by end of the day. Many people come there along with their loved ones to watch sunset and experience the wonderful slideshow of Hues of colors in the sky . I feel calm and hopeful . I think sunsets gives us hope that however bad the day was or whatever happened the whole day, we can still get a beautiful thing in the end . This is the reason many people come at the beach to watch the sunset just to get the peace and feel hopeful for better tomorrow.

“ When you leave a beautiful place , you carry it with you wherever you go”

As the quote states you carry the energy of the space within you when you spend your time in that space. It definitely impacts your emotional state as well as the emotional state of people around you.
