WEAVING THE CONNECTION

Image
The city of Portsmouth has a rich history and had layers of interaction and connections between people of various backgrounds during the exchange of the trade at the port . People from different places came with the motive of buying or exchanging the product they desire to have. Though they came from different communities but they had one intention of buying and selling the product which became their connection point and resulted in layers of interaction. It similar to the contrasting layers of interactions happening in the repair café.  Repair café is made by people for  improving the lifestyle of people and the city.  People from different sectors of community gather at repair cafés for free to mend items together resulting in layers of interactions. Recycle , Upcycle and Repurpose

Image
When someone sees the value in a discard item, it not only receives a new lease on life but also sees a positive change in its aesthetic value. In addition to being good for the environment, upcycling and repurposing materials allows for new design possibilities and challenges preconceived ideas about the profession of design. Value of things and materials is frequently determined by their overall cost, however some artists dispute this idea and have been producing artwork using recycled materials, giving life to new forms of designing. Recycle, upcycle, and repurpose: Recycle: Recycling is the process of dismantling materials and utilising them once again as opposed to allowing them to end up in landfills. Many things have sturdy structures, yet all they need are minor design, operational, or co...

Textile art is one of the many story-telling techniques that have been employed throughout history. This industry is growing, and each day, new textile art masterpieces with lovely concepts and designs appear. The adaptability and durability of fabrics have created new opportunities for design, scale, drama, and effect.  There are many artists that create textile installations, and each of their works has a unique story to tell, drawing on political, social, and personal themes. The installations are made via weaving, sewing, rolling, twisting, dying, folding, patchwork, and other similar techniques. Many of them use waste materials to raise awareness of environmental degradation and climate change. Reusing materials and artefacts from the trash to make art involves changing people's preconceived ideas about art and art forms as well as discovering new possibilities. These are the select few artists whose works have truly moved me.   Hyacinthe Ouattara:  Visual artist Hya...

The Element of Contrast

Image
The Contrasting elements are among the fundamental ideas of art. It is a compositional component that helps to achieve the desired result. It is recognised as the golden rule in the world of fine art. The opposing element can draw attention to a specific, important aspect of the artwork while underlining the idea the creator wants viewers to focus on when viewing the work. When applied skilfully, it has a significant influence. Various techniques, such as differences in colours, textures, shapes, and forms, can be used to create a striking difference between two elements. Indicating where one item ends and another begins, the contrast between the two things delineates their separation. COLOR CONTRAST : Every artist uses colour contrast in at least one of their creations. An effective contrast can be achieved in a variety of ways. Hue contrast - The ability to discriminate between the tones of two different colours is measured by hue contrast. The colours on opposite sides of a colour w...
